We are waiting for the right script: Abhishek Bachchan on teaming up with father Amitabh Bachchan | Hindi Movie News โ€“ Times of India

Abu Dhabi, Actor Abhishek Bachchan says it is always a delight to collaborate with his father, megastar Amitabh Bachchan, and all they look for is a right script that helps them deliver a โ€œmemorableโ€ experience for the audiences. The 80-year-old cinema icon and Abhishek have worked together on films โ€œBunty Aur Babliโ€, Ram Gopal Varma-directed โ€œSarkarโ€ and โ€œSarkar Rajโ€, Karan Joharโ€™s relationship drama โ€œKabhi Alvida Naa Kehnaโ€ and filmmaker R Balkiโ€™s โ€œPaaโ€, which featured the veteran actor in the role of Abhishekโ€™s on screen son suffering from progeria.
Abhishek said while they love working together, they want to be responsible with their choices.
โ€œAs actors, we both enjoy working with each other. But as actors, we also understand the responsibility towards our audience.
โ€œSince we have done such wonderful, memorable work together, we want to carry on doing that. So, we wait for the right script and as soon as that happens, we are happy to work together,โ€ Abhishek told PTI in an interview on the sidelines of IIFA Weekend and Awards here.
The father-son duo will next share screen in Balkiโ€™s upcoming feature โ€œGhoomerโ€.
The film is inspired by the story of Karoly Takacs, the late Hungarian right-hand shooter who won two Olympic gold medals with his left hand after he injured his other hand.
The megastar has been a constant in all the directorial ventures of Balki, including โ€œCheeni Kumโ€, โ€œPaaโ€, โ€œShamitabhโ€, โ€œKi & Kaโ€, โ€œPadmanโ€ and โ€œChup: Revenge of the Artistโ€. He will also make a special appearance in โ€œGhoomerโ€.
โ€œBalki doesnโ€™t make movies without my dad, he is his lucky charm. So, even if it is for one shot (he will take him). It is a recurring theme, and it is the same in this movie,โ€ Abhishek, who has teamed up with the director for the second time after โ€œPaaโ€, added.
The 47-year-old said his first performance at the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards on the hit chartbuster track โ€œKajra Reโ€ in 2005 holds a special place in his heart.
Abhishek performed on the โ€œBunty Aur Babliโ€ song with Aishwaraya Rai Bachchan and father Amitabh Bachchan.
โ€œWe went to Amsterdam. I remember when Shamiak (Davar) was choreographing, we did the entire act and we ended it with โ€˜Kajra Reโ€™. The song is from the film โ€˜Bunty Aur Babliโ€™ that was released before the week of the IIFA.
โ€œWe all thought that it would be wonderful to get Aishwarya and me to perform and it was a rather impromptu decision to pull up dad from the audience. It was wonderful. It is such a special and memorable moment. I am happy we could make it happen,โ€ he said.
The actor who will be hosting the 23rd edition of IIFA awards on Sunday at Yas Island here, said he believes in being dignified and respectful while on stage.
โ€œThere is a huge responsibility when you are hosting, we have to ensure that we celebrate our cinema in the most correct, dignified and respectful way possible.
โ€œI am not somebody who likes to take digs at other people. I find that incorrect, so you wonโ€™t see too much of that. Do stuff that is entertaining, keep it light and keep the audience engaged.โ€
On the film front, Abhishek will also be seen in Nikkhil Advani-backed Hindi remake of 2019 Tamil comedy drama โ€œKDโ€ and Shoojit Sircarโ€™s untitled slice-of-life drama, which will start shooting in August.
โ€œShoojit is a dear friend. I have known him since the start of his career, when he was in advertising. I feel happy and honoured to work with him. I have a lot of love and respect for him,โ€ he added.
